The Scoundrelles' Ethos
Scoundrelles provide an environment that allows students to comfortably explore
an art form that is challenging in both body and mind. You will find yourself having
plenty of fun amongst a community of supportive and motivated people who enjoy your
successes as much as their own.
The arts of burlesque and pole dance help develop self-confidence, they allow participants
to step away from drudgery of the daily grind with a little 'bump and grind'. You
will feel empowered, sexy and in control of your body and as a side benefit will
improve your fitness dramatically.
There is always guidance available for your personal burlesque, pole dance and even
performance ambitions. Our friendly dedicated staff respond promptly to every email
or phone call and will keep you updated with class timetables and performance opportunities.
We can't wait to help you celebrate your sassy side.

Lena Marlene
Principal Teacher/Director
|
Lena Marlene has a long and excitingly chequered past. Now firmly entrenched in
Australia's Burlesque Society she has performed at 'The Burlesque Ball', 'The Big
Day Out' and Sugartime's 'Absinthe Club', amongst others, nationally.
As well as
a featured performer she is now the Artistic Director of The RaGTaG Revue – an exciting
fusion of live music, Cabaret and Burlesque, and is one half of Lascivite – an Opera/Cirque
collaboration that has shows at The Abbey Museum Medieval Banquet and 'Bar Burlesque'
under its belt. She can burlesque and belly dance, perform Russian Silks and stiltwalk,
set herself on fire and charm the serpents – she comes alive within the firm clinch
of a steel boned corset and relishes the silken embrace of a pair of stockings.
With a former incarnation as an Exotic Dancer that includes such titles as 'Miss
Nude Australia's Most Unique Show', 'Hustler International Showgirl of the Year
' and 'Ms Exotica's Most Wicked' to name but a few, she is a treasure trove of pole
dancing and performance experience at your disposal and is ready to lead you off
the beaten track.....
Lena Marlene's shows vary in styles from retro to industrial, tribal to cabaret.
She has taught with Polestars for the past three years as their Queensland head
teacher.
Scoundrelles is fortunate to have such an established and passionate principal
teacher in Lena.

Clare Challen
Teacher/Director
A certified pole dance addict, Clare is the prime example of what this style of
dance can do for you. Having previously spent most of her leisure time bathing in
LCD light, Clare embarked on a pole dance training regime out of passion rather
than fitness. Now instead of the same tired old computer games and websites, she
can be found hanging from her home pole getting another "blood to the head" rush.
Clare loves the challenge of a new trick and can't help but move to the right music.
To Clare, these dance forms are a way to escape the banality of the daily grind.
She understands how feeling sassy when you're strutting can turn you from housewife
to bombshell in a matter of moments.

Vivienne Macleod
Teacher/Director
|
Vivienne is passionate about people, getting to know them and becoming excited about
their goals.
She has a Bachelor of Music Theatre majoring in voice, dance, acting and stage-management
that is an asset to the teaching team. A qualified personal trainer, her experience
in the fitness industry helps in the development of the Scoundrelles programme and
in ensuring attention to detail when it comes to our clients' needs.
Throughout her time at the Conservatorium of Music, Vivienne extended her theatrical
experience by participating in front and backstage work. She performed in 'The Pajama
Game', 'Cabaret Schwartz', 'Fiddler on the Roof' and 'Once Upon a Dream' amongst
others, as well as a number of dance concerts. Her backstage experience is in lighting,
sound, stage-management and promotions.
It is her love of dance and an interest in fitness that brought Vivienne to pole
dancing and now she wants to share her pole addiction with the whole world.
